I have always wanted to find balance between travel, work, and possibility to improve myself. One of the most successful attempts to combine all of this was volunteering with “Kinga Africa” organisation in Africa in 2015.
During my stay in Kenya I volunteered to treat teeth of the residents, and admired the African nature during my leisure time. Truth be told, I did not go volunteering by myself. I am glad I managed to persuade my colleague doctor and two assistants to join me. I would not have dared going all by myself.
So me and my collegues decided to spend our month of vacation treating teeth of the residents of Kyamweivillage in Machakos county. Companies selling dentistry tools took faith in this and donated various tools for this mission. I am very grateful for that.
Unfortunately, mostly we had to remove teeth instead of treating them. I removed hundreds of teeth during that one month of volunteering. Actually, I had to do all of this by a phone light since there was no electricity. This was priceless experience I would definately repeat.
